Rare Drops

Meteors, DragonBalls and gems are rolled separately from the normal loot a monster drops. Every monster you kill rolls for all three, one after another, regardless of whether it dropped any gold or equipment. A single kill can drop gold, a piece of gear, a Meteor and a gem all at once.

The rolls do not care what the monster is worth. A level 20 Turtledove rolls the Meteor and DragonBall checks with exactly the same odds as a level 130 boss.

There is no level requirement, no map restriction (Twin City included), and no dependency on how strong the monster was. Meteors drop just as often from trash mobs as from anything else, which is why low-level, fast-respawning maps are the traditional place to farm them.

Meteor Tears do not drop from monsters.

Same deal — any monster, any map, any level. When one drops, the whole map is told:

X is lucky enough to get a DragonBall!

That announcement is the only warning other players get, so pick it up quickly.

Gem drops are the one case where the monster's level and your level matter.

That bottom row is the important one: farming things well below your own level cuts your gem rate by a factor of 10. If you want gems, fight monsters near or above your own level.

Which gem you get

Only normal (first-tier) gems drop from monsters — never refined, never super.

Tortoise Gems are not in this server.
